About Us

The history of Cantonuovo has its roots in a transformative spiritual experience shared by the three
founders: Maurizio and Fabrizio Tiezzi and Angela Tancredi.

Before 2000, their lives centred primarily on work and
day-to-day activities.

Everything changed on 12 November 2000, when, in what they describe as an extraordinary event,
they received the baptism in the Holy Spirit within the Catholic community.

This radical change has charted a new course for their lives.

In the same year, in Siena, they founded a prayer group which they called
“Cantonuovo”.

Despite numerous initial challenges, guided by what they felt was a clear
divine sign, they supported and continue to actively lead what has now
become a community with a presence in both Italy and Slovakia.

This spiritual experience has given rise to a strong impetus for evangelisation and mission,
as well as for social and humanitarian work.

Between 2000 and 2006, the founders initiated and witnessed a genuine spiritual revival
in the city of Siena and its province.

Between 2003 and 2011, they carried out various humanitarian projects in Kenya and Uganda,
initially through the charity ‘Il Canto Nuovo Onlus’, whilst also having the opportunity
to develop their faith through Bible studies and deeply meaningful experiences of prayer ministry.

Since 2007, they have regularly carried out impactful evangelism and Christian growth initiatives in Slovakia – and from 2008 to 2011 also in
Poland – through seminars, concerts,
workshops and Bible schools, personally reaching thousands of people, particularly
in Slovakia, where they are still actively involved today.

Since 2013, Cantonuovo has focused primarily on consolidating and
supporting the groups and communities that emerged in Italy and Slovakia during its time there and
have remained together.

In order to organise and expand all their activities and initiatives, on 18 January 2009 they
formally established the Cantonuovo Foundation.

Since 9 August 2023, it has been a non-profit third-sector organisation registered with the RUNTS (National
Register of the Third Sector). Its mission is based on spreading the Gospel
and its Christian values and culture, with the aim of fostering the development of individuals and
groups who contribute to creating a better society.

The Foundation’s work is guided by the principles of the Holy Scriptures. By evangelising and
spreading the word of God and Christian culture, it pursues civic, solidarity-based and
socially beneficial aims through various areas of activity:

• Training and Support: promotes the spread of the Word of God, Christian music
  and evangelism for the holistic support of the individual, offering
  training and assistance to individuals, families and communities in accordance with Christian values.

• Humanitarian Aid: reaches out to and assists those in need and the socially
  disadvantaged.

• Integration and Dialogue: promotes intercultural dialogue and integration between nations
  and different Christian denominations.

• Operational Activities: To achieve its objectives, the Foundation organises spiritual
  events (conferences, seminars, workshops, prayer meetings) and cultural
  events (book launches and concerts), runs Bible schools, provides
  counselling and music therapy services, and produces editorial, musical and
  multimedia content.

Today, the Foundation is actively involved at an international level, particularly between Italy and
Slovakia, serving as a point of reference for spiritual development and social and
educational support.
