Knowing the Lord has freed me from a life of hardship caused by intergenerational burdens

Truly knowing the Lord and the prayer of deliverance have freed me from a life of hardship caused by intergenerational burdens.

I was born and raised in a seemingly peaceful family of Catholic tradition, and the upbringing I received was always based on respect for others. In short, all good things! But there were things that didn’t work: we were ALWAYS short of money, despite our income. Whenever things seemed to be improving, there was ALWAYS some event that brought us back down: you don’t have enough money for the weekly shop, you can’t go on a school trip with your classmates because there’s no money, and so on for all a family’s needs. In short, a life of hardship!

All this does is create conflict within the family, so you find yourself living in an environment where hatred and anger towards others reign because you try to blame someone.

The years go by but the situation doesn’t change; I’m increasingly confused, my mind isn’t free or at peace.

With great difficulty, because my mind is clouded, I complete the studies that have led me to fulfil myself professionally: my childhood dream!

The family situation does not improve, and at a certain point in life an opportunity for change arises. So, with the whole family, we decide to leave our roots behind to start afresh in another city. We arrive full of hope, but as soon as we begin to settle in, it all starts again; a series of events occurs that leaves us with little money: we were unable to enjoy our work.

You ask yourself: “Why?”. We sought help and an explanation from our priests; we performed all the rituals they told us to do, we asked God, we bargained with Him, we went on pilgrimages, but nothing changed. So we resigned ourselves to the idea that our destiny was not to live life to the full!

In April 2004, I went to a prayer meeting organised by Cantonuovo. I attended simply to meet the founders who, a few months earlier, had prayed for a relative of mine who had been diagnosed with cancer. I went to thank them because she had recovered, even though the doctors hadn’t given her much hope. I wasn’t looking for anything for myself because by then I had resigned myself to it. I’ve always been a rational person with my feet firmly on the ground; I’ve never let myself be swept away by sentimentality or easy enthusiasm—perhaps a hardened heart?

That evening in late April 2004, something unexpected happened: during the praise and during the prayer of deliverance, I felt overwhelmed by a force that unsettled me. From that moment, a long process of change began in my life and in that of my whole family. Although sceptical, I began attending the ‘Life in the Spirit’ seminar. Whenever I raised a doubt, without fail, I received confirmations that reassured me to carry on! So, prayer after prayer, the Lord brought to light events that had occurred in past generations of which no one was aware, all of which were confirmed after the prayers. All this encouraged me to carry on because you realise that there is something BEYOND that you cannot control. The only thing to do is to let God act.

What has changed?

After years of prayer and seminars, I came to know Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, which had previously been non-existent for me.  My family situation has changed; today we have everything we need, my mind is FREE and SERENE, and I am doing the job I have always wanted. I have learnt to face life with a different approach; it may sound like a cliché, but it isn’t. It is different because it comes from within and defies all reason: when Jesus reigns in your spirit, it cannot be otherwise.

I hope this testimony may be of help so that you may give Jesus a chance to intervene in your life, for Jesus is waiting for our ‘YES’.
